Wednesday 06-08-11 Day +15

Today was my first day as an outpatient!  It was an unbelievable feeling to be released yesterday…very emotional, happy, scared, etc.  Wade had this apartment shined up and looking so inviting and beautiful.  It was awesome!  We had a good night, except for me waking up through the night expecting someone to come in and take vitals!  This morning we went to the hospital to get blood drawn and have my first out-patient appointment.  This is all done in the Ambulatory Treatment Center on the 10th floor.  You are checked in to a little outpatient hospital room where they will give you any IV blood products, fluids, etc. that you might need, see the PharmD and Nurse Practitioner on your team and then go home.  They told me that for a while I will go there every day , 7 days a week.  Once a week you will see your Transplant Doctor there.  This is a safer area of the hospital instead of in the clinics where there are lots of sick people. The coolest thing is that I still don’t need any blood products!!!  Hemoglobin actually went up, platelets actually went up, both just a little bit, and my white count is hanging in at 3.6 so I needed no neupogen shots!  All I had to get was a bag of magnesium.  One of my rejection drugs depletes magnesium.  All in all it was a great day, just long!  My biggest problem is with the mucinitis in my throat, very painful ulcerated sores caused by the chemo drugs I took before transplant.  They have given me numbing rinse which helps tremendously and they assure me it will be over soon.  I am doing so unbelievably well right now!

This morning the last few straggling hairs were quickly trimmed from my head and I have to admit it looks pretty dang good!  So far I have refused to cover!  Nite yall!

Be proud, show that Bald Head. Let the people know you are a survivor of a very intensed procedure. The bald is good faith, you go girl, You are doing so goood. You are such a Blessed lady to have Wade as your husband, he seems to be a very good man, i know just what i’ve seen in him, he’s the best. I think I’ve told you this many times, (sometimes i repeat, I think I’m close to needing a caretaker) Your Mom and Dad are doing so good, he bought her a lift and girl it’s a Cadilliac. I LOVE IT….and so does she, it took me and your dad to get her hands loose from the bars, she did not want to let go. She loves it also. You only have a 98 days before you can leave town. Can’t wait, we need to do the OUTBACK AGAIN…….. lv ya both

    Sweet Holly and Wade,
Your call absolutely MADE MY DAY!!!!! It was so good to hear your voice. I got really emotional when we hung up. GOD is so good and HE’s hearing and answering our prayers! I bet an apartment never looked so good! Wade, I know you are thrilled to have your Holly at home at night. What an amazing caregiver you are!!! In the BIG scheme of things, losing your hair is hard but so worth you getting a new, health life. Continuing to pray for you and for your recovery. You are precious to me but more important precious to GOD, our LORD and SAVIOR, because you are HIS child. Take care! Love you!
    GOD’s Blessings,
    Monica

So very proud of you and your great attitude!! We’re praying for you! Yes bald is beautiful but I have been making chemo caps that I want to send to you…to wear or to give away to other people who want them. I have been told that when you go thru chemo, it effects your body temp. and you are cold all the time. Hopefully you don’t have that reaction! Anyway I have enjoyed making them and I hope someone can use them. I do need your address so I can send them to you. Love you heaps and piles and give yourself a big hug and Wade one too.
