Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I have so much to be thankful for….for my amazing husband, family, and friends, for all of your hopeful support, prayers, positive comments, cheer, and love! I especially am thankful for my donor who has saved my life. I was just thinking last night as I was tossing and turning at 3:00 a.m. (!) that it was about 10 months ago when Dr. Garcia-Manero, my Doctor at MD Anderson gave me 6 to 12 months to live unless I had a stem cell transplant. Here I am free of cancer and on my way to good health! Now that is something to be thankful for! Still battling issues, the latest of which is a very swollen and painful left leg from my knee down to my toes. Dr. Jubay saw me yesterday and has me scheduled tomorrow for a doppler to see if I have a blood clot.
My appointments at MD Anderson went well, I don’t yet have results of my bone marrow biopsy. The cytology portion of the test, which is what we are really interested in, takes 2 to 3 weeks. Hopefully I will get results this next week. Good news was that I don’t have to go back for 3 months this time! I’m still making weekly trips to Amarillo for blood work at Harrington.
After we left Houston, we drove to San Angelo where we met Wade’s brother, Steve, his wife Mary (who live between Reno and Tahoe) and their daughter Mandy, his brother Clay (who lives in Montana) and niece Megan and her husband Miles from Stephenville. They spent the weekend going through and cleaning out their Mom’s house and getting it ready to sell. Even though that is never an easy thing to do, those guys had some funny stories and it was a nice weekend. Us girls managed to shop a little bit at Hobby Lobby and The Sassy Fox which was fun.
I hope you are all blessed with a wonderful day today with family, friends, and good food. I am so looking forward to this day! God bless each and every one of you! Happy Thanksgiving!
